South Florida’s Premier Alcohol and Drug Treatment Program
A PROGRAM THAT WORKS!
Our Place Recovery was designed with the idea that drug addiction and alcoholism are not “life sentences”. We believe that the first step to recovery from chemical dependency is hope, the hope for a life no longer “dictated” by alcohol and drugs. Chemical dependency can be treated and with help our clients can find a life of sobriety. At Our Place Recovery we do not believe in “hopeless cases”. Our philosophy is “you never fail unless you quit trying”!
Our program incorporates the traditional 12-step model in conjunction with our “holistic” approach to treatment offering innovative assessment and treatment techniques with an emphasis on independent living skills and social responsibility. Our goal is to educate each client to identify patterns, discover who they are and how they approach life and work. Clients learn to break through old paradigms and make a complete “transformation” into a sober lifestyle. We encourage our clients to "raise the bar" in their efforts to become and remain drug and alcohol free.
At Our Place Recovery the formula is love, compassion, knowledge, and guidance. We want you or your loved one to become the person they always wanted to be. Drugs and alcohol are shown not to be the problem but merely symptoms of deeper, core issues. At Our Place we address these issues through individual treatment planning that encompasses chemical dependency, mental health issues, as well as life’s daily stressors.
Institutionalism
At Our Place Recovery do not believe the way to treat clients with drug and alcohol problems is to “lock them down” for a pre-determined time period. Addicts and alcoholics need to learn to recover in a community setting and not in an institution based environment. Getting “sober” is an inside job. To get and stay sober a psychic change must occur. Once the client has accepted his disease and surrendered to the fact that they cannot use drugs or drink safely, they are on their way to a new found freedom. Our clients are exposed to the outside world during treatment, while at the same time working on the various issues that have kept them from getting sober. Whether shopping at the local grocery store or on a trip to the beach, they are supervised by a trained staff member. They get the benefit of being under 24 hour supervision without the burden and boredom of being restricted to a particular institutional setting. In addition, they are introduced to various outside 12-Step Meetings so that they feel comfortable attending AA or NA groups when they leave treatment.
Size
At Our Place Recovery our maximum bed capacity is 25....too often clients are referred to facilities that house anywhere from 50-200 clients. In these treatment centers clients become a number or non-entity, able to disappear within the confines of the huge population. While other facilities advertise “individualized care” we actually adhere to it. Group sizes are out of proportion with therapy groups averaging 20-25 clients. At OUR PLACE Recovery the small groups allow for everyone to be heard. Our therapy group size never exceeds 10 clients. Because we are a small residence, we have created an atmosphere of community which helps avoid certain pitfalls. Clients are unable to "hide" and are forced to face their problems head on in both a group and individually. We adhere to individualized care and our clients are both seen and have a voice; they feel part of their recovery and community. Each of our clients receives a complete assessment by our board certified psychiatrist and if necessary, is prescribed non-narcotic medications to assist in treating their respective disorders. In addition, we encourage holistic health through nutrition, exercise, acupuncture and massage.
Family Therapy
In the Families of addicts and alcoholics a common phenomenon takes place. Each member may have a completely different recollection of their lives in the same household. Each member sees things from their own perspective and has their own memories. These dynamics have to be worked out within the family and each member has to take responsibility for their part. We are here to help the family sort out these problems and help each member understand their part in the change that has to occur. We offer this as part of each clients recovery.
